The City is working to create vibrant, resilient neighborhoods in places like the East Sprague District. Smart Growth America, a nationwide coalition, is equipping the City with more tools and strategies to reinvigorate that area, and you can get involved in the process.

The East Sprague area has been a focus of City planning efforts such as Sprague TIP. Last year, Smart Growth America, which offers growth solutions to support business and job creation, chose Spokane as one of just 14 communities nationally to receive a technical workshop grant to assist that project. The Planning for economic and fiscal health workshop will focus on smart growth policies that can help the community save money and use targeted investment to spur economic development. This will help us build policies around our plans along East Sprague that can be replicated elsewhere in the city.

This September, join staff from Smart Growth America and the City of Spokane in learning how smart growth policies can couple with current planning efforts to improve the E. Sprague District.

  • WHEN:     September 15th, 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • WHERE:   Scafco, 2800 E. Main Ave.

For more information, email smartgrowthamerica@spokanecity.org or call 509.625.6156.

The East Sprague District will be receiving over $50 million in public infrastructure improvements over the next three years targeting residential road maintenance, housing rehabilitation and more. Be a part of the discussion that will jump-start private investment in the East Sprague District and build new opportunities in Spokane.
