Swimming season is coming to a close

Despite the poor air quality towards the end of the season, 2015 was a fantastic year for the Spokane City Pools swimming lessons and swim teams! Swim lessons were at a 81% capacity in our swim lesson program and our novice swim team reached 100% capacity!

We'd like to give a big thank you to the Spokane Firefighters Union, local 29, for their sponsorship of our free swim week in July!

Parks and Recreation did their best to work through the poor air quality during the unfortunate fire storm across the entire region.

"Our goal was to keep pools open and available as much as possible in our finals days of summer, but keep both the public and employees as safe as possible." Says Carl Strong, Assistant Director of Recreation.

And they did exactly that by keeping an eye on the air quality monitor at spokanecleanair.org. They released closures as close to an hour before the start of the next session as they could.

Pools Close

As swimming season comes to a close on August 29th, Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to join us for post season swimming at Witter for lap swims until September 12th, the splash pad until September 13th, as well as the multiple Doggie Dip days after the pools close.
