Rehabilitating the homes of low-income families

The Single Family Rehabilitation program is one of the largest annual investments by the City’s Community, Housing, and Human Services Department (CHHS), and it’s helping make a difference for local families.

The program provides low-cost loans to rehabilitate homes occupied by low-income homeowners. We also fund SNAP’s Essential Repair program that provides grants for small but necessary repairs, also for low-income homeowners. SNAP manages both the Single Family Rehabilitation program and Essential Repair programs.

The success story below, written by SNAP Program Specialist Kelly Morrow, showcases a home-rehabilitation project that coordinated the SF Rehab, Essential Repair, and Weatherization (State-funded program) programs. See how the transformation of Franziska Holt’s north Spokane home cut her energy bill in half!
