Next round of Monroe/Lincoln improvements begin

Update, 6/3/16

New Traffic Controls are in place due to construction on Monroe and Lincoln:

  • Spokane Falls Blvd traffic will be directed to turn onto Post Street for northbound Monroe seeking traffic (as an alternative route) if they are a light vehicle.
  • The north lane (right) on Spokane Falls Blvd will be for a right turn onto Monroe only
  • The south lane (left) on Spokane Falls Blvd will be for a straight or left turn
  • On Monroe Street, the southbound east lane (lane) will be for a left turn only
  • On Monroe Street, the southbound west lane (right) will be for going straight or turning right
  • Additionally, the City is working with Riverpark Square to determine alternative measures within the parking garage to help move that traffic onto Spokane Falls Blvd as efficiently as possible. Looking at other exits as well as creating a way to be in the appropriate lane once they exit onto Spokane Falls Blvd to alleviate cross traffic.

See the traffic plan for another look at the traffic revisions. We apologize for any inconvenience to your commute. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve this important corridor!

Crews began working on the Monroe/Lincoln Street Couplet earlier this year between 4th and 8th Avenues, and now more improvements are getting underway between Main and 2nd Avenues.

This is a full-depth roadway replacement on Lincoln Street and Monroe Street. Some minor curbing and ADA curb ramps will be installed where necessary.

The $2.5 Million dollar project is being funded with State TIB Funds, Federal STP Funds, and Local REET Funds.
