Lori Kinnear is a fourth generation Washingtonian and has lived in Spokane for over 18 years. She holds degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Horticulture and has worked in radio broadcasting as an anchor, and in advertising and public relations as an associate for a variety of private and non-profit organizations.

Lori’s areas of expertise include: media and public relations, project management, and legislative/policy development. All three of these stem from her aforementioned work experience, and from her experience as a former small business owner and small business advisor with a local Spokane business development agency.

Her community involvement includes:

Lori has developed policy experience as a private citizen, a legislative assistant to two different former City Council members, and as an elected member of the City Council. She spearheaded the City of Spokane Community Garden project and, in her capacity as a legislative assistant, has worked on ordinances relating to “Complete Streets”, design guidelines for centers and corridors, and foreclosed properties.

During her tenure in office, she has sponsored legislation involving human trafficking prevention, historic preservation, parklets and streeteries, environmental protection and the City of Spokane’s Sustainability Action Plan, property crime reduction, revisions to the Park Code, and protections for public lands and properties from harmful activities.
