Transitional Residential Uses on North Monroe Corridor Project

Project Description

In recent years, the City—in partnership with the neighborhoods and residents—has invested in updated infrastructure and streets along the North Monroe Corridor. In order to support these recent investments within the Corridor, the City is examining possible land use plan and zoning changes that might help implement the Centers and Corridors vision of the Comprehensive Plan in the vicinity of the North Monroe Corridor. This will be a focused initiative centered on portions of the neighborhood located near transit stops in the Corridor.

In order to study these possible changes in a thoughtful and inclusive manner, the City will be working with a stakeholder group of local residents, business owners, and service providers like STA. This stakeholder group will help identify locations that may be suitable for denser and/or more intensive residential land uses than what exists today while providing an orderly transition between the existing Corridor and the adjacent neighborhood. Additional housing and other uses in these locations would assist development of local businesses and redevelopment located directly on Monroe.

As this project develops over the next few months this page will be updated to reflect the strategies and ideas under consideration. Check back often for updated information and notices of any public meetings or hearings.
