Transitional Residential Uses on South Perry Corridor Project

Project Description

Considerable redevelopment efforts, including both public and private projects, have taken place in the Perry District in recent years. In order to support these investments within the commercial center, the City is examining possible land use plan and zoning changes that might help implement the Centers and Corridors vision of the Comprehensive Plan in the vicinity of the South Perry Center. This will be a focused initiative centered on portions of the neighborhood located near transit stops in the Center.

In order to study these possible changes in a thoughtful and inclusive manner, the City will be working with a stakeholder group of local residents, business owners, and service providers like STA. This stakeholder group will help identify locations that may be suitable for denser and/or more intensive residential land uses than what exists today, while providing an orderly transition between the existing Center and the adjacent neighborhood. Additional housing and other uses in these locations would assist development of local businesses and redevelopment located directly on Perry.

As this project develops over the next few months, this page will be updated to reflect the strategies and ideas under consideration. Check back often for updated information and notices of any public meetings or hearings.
