Mayor’s Housing Quality Task Force

The Mayor’s Housing Quality Task Force (HQT) aligns City investments, resources and policies to support safe, affordable and quality housing in mixed-income neighborhoods. The HQT is focusing on creating mixed-income neighborhoods that offer an increased mic of housing options by focusing on six areas of housing:

  • Abandoned Homes
  • Homes in Foreclosure
  • Chronic Nuisance Properties
  • Substandard Rental Properties
  •  Vacant Residential Lots
  • Housing Affordability

Spokane needs more quality housing and HQT is dedicated to this. Success of this program includes; increase in property valuation, increases in a mixture of housing options creating more affordable housing, decreased crime rates, and identifying measures to better market segmentation/variability in each neighborhood.

The Mayor’s Housing Quality Task Force is divided into two sub-committees; Housing Conditions Committee and Housing Affordability Committee. The two sub-committees are reviewing a host of recommendations that address housing in Spokane. Join this community conversation by attending the Community meeting on Tuesday, June 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the downtown library.

For more information on this topic visit the HQT page.
