Spokane receives state’s Stewardship Award

We have made some important strides in the area of grants management. The Washington State Auditor has presented the City with its Stewardship Award and with it, some important recognition of the improvements we have made in handling grants over the past year.

This stewardship award is one of only four that have been awarded to local governments throughout Washington. The award marks the great progress that has been made by our staff in Community, Housing and Human Services and the Grants Management departments. It's significant because it recognizes that Spokane is better able to use federal and state grant dollars to benefit those in need in our community.

Even as we celebrate this success, we continue to work with our nonprofit partners that receive our funding to improve the grant systems and ensure that the end beneficiaries, Spokane's low income families, receive the best service.
