Spokane Wins Every Place Counts Design Challenge

On Monday, the U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced the winners for DOT’s Every Place Counts Design Challenge. Spokane was among the list of four winning cities.

The Every Place Count Design Challenge helps identify community design solutions and bridges infrastructure divide, connecting people to essential services. As a recipient of the Every Place Counts Design Challenge the city will receive a design session with on-site technical assistance and design experts in the field from U.S. DOT.

The construction of I-90 divided the East Central Neighborhood. With U.S. DOT’s technical assistance we will bring together the affected East Central Area with partners, committed to developing re-connectivity solutions.

Spokane’s design session is Thursday, July 7 and Friday, July 8 at the Riverpoint Campus. Volunteers in the following fields are encouraged to join the design session including architectural design firms, urban and regional planners, engineers, and academia.

The public is invited to join the session on July 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. which will include time for public feedback and a Questions and Answer format. On July 8 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. there will be a final presentation that the public is also invited to attend.
