Martin Luther King Jr. Day has become a day in which citizens donate their time to serve their community and this year was no exception.
Over 30 volunteers ranging from senior citizens to young children gathered to make blessing bags and sort Everybody Counts donations. Each blessing bag contains a water bottle, hat, foot warmers, hand warmers, razor, shaving cream, shampoo, conditioner, comb and soap or body wash. These bags will be passed out to those experiencing homelessness as the City conducts the annual point-in-time count from Thursday, January 25 to Wednesday, January 31.
In addition, to making blessing bags volunteers also sorted Everybody Counts donations. These donations will be given to those experiencing homelessness and local shelters during the point-in-time count. If you are interested in donating the deadline for the donation drive is Monday, January 22. For a full list of donations needed and donation drop off locations visit our website.
