SPOKANE – Two large construction projects are underway in the redevelopment of Riverfront Park, on the heels of the opening in the fall of 2019 of the U.S. Pavilion. There are some impacts to pathways; thank you for your ongoing patience during construction. View a map.

North Bank

The North Bank project will hold the fifth and final voter-approved bond project deliverable – a destination playground. Themed for the ice age floods that shaped our region, it will offer a large splash pad feature, a 3-story climbing tower, and many themed pieces of play equipment.

In addition, the site will house a wheels park (replacing the Under the Freeway Skate Park), a signature basketball court funded by Hooptown USA, parking, family restrooms, picnic shelters, and green space. The project is anticipated to open in spring 2021.

West Havermale

West Havermale’s key feature will be our City’s first all-inclusive playground. Funded by a community benefit grant from Providence Health Care, it provide an inclusive play space for people of all abilities and ages. With designs donated by Shane’s Inspiration, who specializes in inclusive play spaces, and input from our community, the space will include sensory-rich areas for play as well as quiet places for relaxing and exploring.

West Havermale also provides a renovated Theme Stream from Expo ’74, a signature art piece, and connectivity to the Centennial Trail. Construction is slated to complete in fall 2020.
