Spokane Police Officers and a Spokane Police K9 catch a potential robbery suspect with help from some alert citizens.

Early this morning at 5:33 AM a man walked into the 7-11 in the 2800 block of or East 30th and took things from the store without paying.  Wit was reported to police that when employees attempted to contact him in order to stop him he displayed a “black handgun” and told them he would shoot them.  He then fled on foot.

SPD patrol officers responded and set up a perimeter and then began a track with an SPD K9 and deployed an SPD drone to provide over watch for the track adding an additional layer of protection for the officers and the community.  Alert citizens provided updates to the officers in the area as to the movement of the suspect.  The K9 located the suspect near the Applebee’s restaurant on 29th and he was taken into custody without incident.  At the time of his arrest he was cooperative and did not have a firearm in his possession.

The SPD would like to thank the citizens that provided information which helped lead to the capture of the suspect.

The investigation is continuing, anyone with information regarding this incident that has not spoken to law enforcement is encouraged to call crime check at 456-2233.
