Chapter 01.05 Civil Infraction System

Section 01.05.020 Administrative Responsibilities
  1. Except as provided in this section, this chapter does not alter the responsibilities vested by this code in the several officers and employees for administration and enforcement of its various provisions.
  1. For purposes of issuing a notice of infraction, the code enforcement officer is:
    1. the mayor or the division director, department director or assistant director, described in chapter 3.01A SMC, vested with administrative and enforcement jurisdiction in the particular matter; or
    1. an employee or agent to whom enforcement jurisdiction has been specifically conferred, who carries a special police commission conferring authority to issue a notice of infraction for the kind of violation in question; or
    1. a regularly commissioned law enforcement officer; or
    1. a city prosecutor.
