Chapter 04.01 General Administrative Procedures

Section 04.01.030 Appointment
  1. Appointments to City boards, commissions or agencies made by the City Council are to be made from residents of the City, unless the provision establishing the requirement for the appointment specifically permits or requires the appointment of a nonresident. Any current member of a board, commission or agency who is not a resident of the City shall be permitted to complete his or her term and any subsequent reappointment.
  1. Appointees shall be at least eighteen years of age unless the state law or City ordinance creating the board, commission or agency provides for appointees under the age of eighteen.
  1. Appointees shall have indicated a willingness to serve in such capacity in response to efforts by the mayor to extend the opportunity for service to all concerned citizens and groups so as to achieve the greatest degree of public confidence and expertise.
  1. Unless otherwise specifically prohibited by the document creating the appointment to a City board, commission or agency, the incumbent members appointed by the city council shall continue to serve and remain a voting member beyond the expiration of his or her term until a replacement member has been appointed and assumed the position.
