Chapter 17E.060 Shoreline Regulations

Article V. General Requirements for Shoreline Use and Modifications: Part V. Requirements for Specific Shoreline Uses

Section 17E.060.620 Natural Land Forms
  1. Islands.
    1. Use or development shall not be allowed on undeveloped islands in the Spokane River and Latah Creek.
    1. Islands shall not be damaged or degraded and shall be preserved for wildlife habitat and scenic and aesthetic qualities.
  1. Shoreline Basalt Cliffs and Banks.

No development or use shall be allowed which:

    1. destroys or degrades the natural character of the shoreline basalt cliffs and banks;
    1. removes vegetation from the shoreline basalt cliffs and banks, unless the removal is to improve public safety;
    1. accumulates excessive amounts of water in any way at the top of a bank or cliff;
    1. increases the hazard of or causes cave-ins, landslides, and/or erosion;
    1. involves the use of explosives or mining.
  1. Spokane River Falls and Rapids.

Any development or use that will destroy or degrade the falls and rapids area shall not be allowed.
