Chapter 17H.010 Street Development Standards

Section 17H.010.070 Street Width –Residential Uses
  1. The street width may be reduced to twenty-seven feet on local access streets in low density (four to ten units per acre) residential zones if parking is omitted on one side of the street. Refer to SMC 17H.010.120 for on-street parking requirements.
  1.  The local access residential street standard shall be thirty-two feet with parking on both sides.  This is intended for use in areas with street-facing garages and driveways, where on-street parking is primarily used by visitors and extra vehicles.
  1. The residential high-density standard shall be thirty-six feet with parking on both sides.  This is intended for use in areas where parking on both sides of the street is expected on a regular basis, such as near apartment complexes.  
  1. Additional parking restrictions may be required near intersections on thirty-two foot streets. The turning movements of service and emergency vehicles must be evaluated to ensure that on-street parking does not interfere with access.
