Chapter 17F.030 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

Section 17F.030.120 Records of Inspection

  1. A privately employed inspector must submit a written report on prescribed forms to the building official within thirty days after every inspection.

  2. Every insurance inspector must furnish to the building official a list of boilers and pressure vessels covered by his company’s insurance policies. All insurance companies and insurance inspectors must notify the building official within thirty days of all boiler or unfired pressure vessel risks written, cancelled, not renewed, or suspended because of unsafe conditions. Special inspectors are required to perform all in-service inspections of boilers and unfired pressure vessels insured by their employer. After a repair or alteration the in-service inspector is responsible to assure that an R-1 form is completed and a copy submitted to the department with the inspection report.

  3. Every operator and owner is required to post the operating permit near the boiler or pressure vessel. If the boiler or pressure vessel is not located within a building, the permit is to be posted in a location convenient to the boiler or pressure vessel inspected.

  4. Whenever an inspection reveals that a boiler or unfired pressure vessel is in compliance with this code, the boiler inspector so states on the inspection report, then an operating permit is issued. The inspector indicates upon the report the maximum allowable working pressure, the BTU input to the burner of the boiler and the size for an unfired pressure vessel. The inspector then gives a copy of the inspection report to the owner or user and keeps the original in the department’s file.
