Chapter 17F.030 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

Section 17F.030.200 Owner to Notify Boiler Inspector in Case of Accident

When an accident occurs which renders a boiler or unfired pressure vessel inoperative, the owner or user must immediately notify the city boiler inspector and submit a detailed report of the accident. In case of serious accident, such as explosion or one resulting in personal injury, notice must be given immediately by telephone or electronic means. Neither the boiler or unfired pressure vessel nor any part thereof is to be removed or disturbed before an inspection has been made by the chief inspector or his designee, except for the purpose of saving life or limiting consequential damage. The inspector making the investigation and inspection reports to the chief inspector as soon as possible. The owner of the boiler or pressure vessel is responsible for all costs of the department’s investigation. The owner or user of the boiler may notify the Washington state board of boilers rules of any accident. (Reference WAC 296-104-025).
