Chapter 17C.305 Adult Business
Section 17C.305.020 Use Standards
An adult business must be located on property of sufficient size and frontage to contain the establishment together with off-street parking, driveways, building setbacks and landscaping as required by this chapter and, further, the location must meet the following requirements.
An adult business may not be located or maintained within seven hundred fifty feet, measured from the nearest property line of the adult business to the nearest property line of any of the following preexisting uses located inside or outside of the city of Spokane:
Public library.
Public playgrounds or park.
Public or private school and its grounds, from kindergarten to twelfth grade.
Nursery school, mini-daycare center or daycare center
Church, convent, monastery, synagogue, or other place of religious worship.
Another adult business, subject to the provisions of this section.
An adult business may not be located within seven hundred fifty feet of any of the following zones located within the city of Spokane:
RA – Residential Agriculture.
R1 – Residential 1.
R2 – Residential 2.
RMF – Residential Multifamily.
RHD – Residential High Density.
O – Office Zone.
OR – Office Retail.
An adult business may not be located within seven hundred fifty feet of any zone in any other jurisdiction abutting the city of Spokane that has listed in their zoning ordinance a residential zone separation standard similar to subsection (B) of this section. Currently, adult businesses must locate at least seven hundred fifty feet from the following Spokane county zones:
Rural Residential-10 – RR-10
Semi-rural Residential-5 – SRR-5.
Semi-rural Residential-2 – SRR-2.
Suburban Residential-1 – SR-1.
Suburban Residential-1/2 – SR-1/2.
Urban Residential-3.5 – UR-3.5.
Urban Residential-7 – UR-7.
Urban Residential-12 – UR-12.
Urban Residential-22 – UR-22.
Rural Settlement – RS.
Hours of Operation.
An adult business may not be operated or otherwise open to the public between the hours of two a.m. and ten a.m.
