Section 17C.111.030 Characteristics of Residential Zones
Residential Agriculture (RA).
The RA zone is a low-intensi ty residential zone that is applied to areas that are designated agriculture on the land use plan map of the comprehensi ve plan. Uses allowed in this zone include farming, green house farming, single-unit residences and minor structures used for sales of agricultural products produced on the premises.
Residential 1 (R1).
The R1 zone is a low-intensi ty residential zone. The zone allows a range of housing choices built at the general scale and height of detached houses. This includes both detached and attached homes and middle housing types.
Residential 2 (R2).
The R2 zone is a low-intensi ty residential zone. It allows a range of housing choices built at the general scale and height of detached houses—including both detached and attached homes and middle housing types—but at a slightly larger development intensi ty than the R1 zone.
Residential Multifamily (RMF).
The RMF zone is a medium-intensi ty residential zone. Allowed housing includes larger multi-unit structures while also including a mix of lower intensi ty middle housing and detached housing. The RMF zone allows higher development intensi ty as compared to the R2 zone.
Residential High Densi ty (RHD).
The RHD is a high-intensi ty residential zone that allows the highest intensi ty and scale of housing in the residential zones. The allowed housing developments including those found in the RMF zone but also including taller and more intense apartment complexes.
