Title 13 Public Utilities and Services
Chapter 13.02 Solid Waste
Article IV. Rec ycling
Section 13.02.0404 Rec ycling – Residential-use Premises – Nonresidential-use Premises
The department is required to offer minimum levels of residential curbside rec ycling collection service to all residential-use premises, consistent with the requirements of chapter 70.95 RCW and the Spokane solid waste management plan, to encourage rec ycling and reduce the amount of waste generated.
For premises using residential-style automated cart or equivalent service, a minimum rec ycling service of one rec ycling cart is mandatory and will be charged whether or not used. This fee is already included in the basic monthly billing for regular solid waste service.
For premises with multi-unit dwellings, an approved rec ycling container of greater volume may be required to be used, depending on the level of service need for the account, as determined by the direc tor.
Nonresidential-use premises may choose to rec eive service with or without additional rec ycling. All customers are encouraged to participate in the department’s rec ycling program.
In addition to participation in the residential rec ycling program, for nonresidential-use premises, the department offers reduced rates for rec yclables.
Rec yclable collection service for rolloff containers is charged as provided in SMC 13.02.0550 .
