Chapter 02.02 Initiative and Referendum

Section 02.02.170 Council Action on Validated Referendum Petition

1. Following validation of the signatures on the referendum petition, the city clerk must immediately tally the number of signatures and make a report to the city council at the next available meeting.

2. At the hearing on the validated referendum petition the city council determines whether:

1. 1. to grant the petition and repeal the ordinance as requested; or

1. 2. the referendum measure should go to the electors either at the next available general or special municipal election.
