Chapter 12.08 Regulation of Traffic

Section 12.08.050 Motorist Information Signs
  1. “Motorist information sign” is a sign erected or installed as a supplemental direction sign to direct motorists to motorist service businesses qualified for specific information panels pursuant to chapter 47.42 RCW in any location on, or adjacent to, the right-of-way of any roads or streets within the City of Spokane or on private property.
     
  2. Motorist information signs and their locations shall comply with all applicable provisions of this chapter, sections 131 and 315 of Title 23, United States Code, and such regulations as may be adopted by the Washington State department of transportation, including the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways.
     
  3. The City is authorized to permit the erection of motorist information signs adjacent to City streets or roads or on private property. The City shall charge reasonable fees for the display of individual business signs to defray the costs of their installation and maintenance. The City shall erect and maintain the information panels. Compensation to the City shall be derived solely from the reasonable fees which it will be permitted to charge participating businesses for making and exhibiting business signs and displays.
