Section 16A.84.020 Pedestrian Safety Top Transportation Priority; Purpose and Intent
- The City of Spokane recognizes that pedestrian safety and service is the City’s highest transportation priority.
- The City of Spokane desires an active, connected, equitable, sustainable, and complete transportation network for all users, maximizing innovation, access, choice, and options for all users in all four seasons.
- The City of Spokane intends to enhance walking routes to schools, parks, retail locations, employment centers and desirable destinations for seniors.
- The City of Spokane intends to remove barriers restricting expansion, safety, and the use of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.
- The City of Spokane supports Washington State’s Target Zero goal of reducing all traffic fatalities and serious injuries to zero by the year 2030.
- The City of Spokane supports regional efforts to identify and coordinate on pedestrian safety projects.
