The final day to request a disposal pass through the City of Spokane will be on Friday, May 3.

Residents were notified when the program launched on March 1 that passes would be available until program funding is expended.

“We love to see that Spokane residents take pride in cleaning up their homes and yards and make Spokane the incredible city that it is,” said Office of Neighborhood Services Director Patrick Striker. “The reality is that the passes are very popular every spring and go fast once they are available. We always encourage residents to sign up for one as soon as possible.”

The passes, which cover up to $25 in tipping fees, are designed to help residents remove extra waste by distributing vouchers to the Waste to Energy Facility at 2900 S. Geiger Blvd. The program is a partnership between the Office of Neighborhood Services and Department of Solid Waste.

A total of 169.75 tons of waste has been disposed of under the program this spring. More than 2,400 disposal passes have been requested since March 1.

Disposal passes will be available again in the fall, beginning August 1 directly from Spokane’s 29 neighborhood councils. Fall disposal pass funding is limited and passes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

It is important to note that each neighborhood council will be distributing their disposal passes differently (at meetings, events, etc.) so contact your neighborhood council to find out how to receive one.

Many neighborhoods are planning fall cleanups. Residents can get involved in their neighborhood council at spokanecity.org/neighborhoods. If your neighborhood council is interested in hosting a volunteer-led clean-up day, email cleanup@spokanecity.org. The Neighborhood Clean-up Program supports the broader City of Spokane's actions to reduce property crime, beautify Spokane, and promote community resiliency.
