Chapter 02.01 Council Meetings

Section 02.01.010 Time & Place
  1. Regular legislative meetings of the City Council shall be held at three-thirty p.m. on Monday each week in the City Council Chambers located in the lower level of City Hall at 808 West Spokane Falls Boulevard. When a Monday is a legal holiday according to City ordinance, then the meeting may be held on the next succeeding day which is not a City holiday, or may be cancelled at the discretion of the Council President.
  1. The regular legislative meeting shall consist of an agenda review followed by an executive session, if necessary, followed by a recess until six p.m., followed by a legislative and hearings session.
  1. The City Council may hold a study session(s) intended to provide the Council with background information and briefing from the Mayor or the Mayor’s designee and selected other persons regarding forthcoming agenda matters or other items as necessary, when proper notice of the meetings has been given.
  1. An executive session may be called at any time during a regular or special meeting of the City Council as provided in RCW 42.30.110.
  1. The City Council may conduct a regular City Council meeting as a “town hall” meeting, which shall be cablecast on Channel 5 or online through the City of Spokane website and may be held outside of the regular meeting location at City Hall. Legislative business may be minimized or suspended during town hall meetings.
