Article II. Departments

Section 03.01A.480 Street

1. The street department is responsible for providing day-to-day safe and efficient movement of persons and goods throughout the City and for maintaining and preserving the City’s public streets, bridges and traffic control devices. The department has two field operations sections: street maintenance and traffic operations.

2. Street maintenance performs:

1. 1. bridge maintenance and inspection;

1. 2. pavement management evaluations; and

1. 3. roadway maintenance, street sweeping, leaf removal, snow and ice control, and weed control.

3. Traffic operations perform:

1. 1. street signs and pavement markings installation, repair and maintenance;

1. 2. signals and lighting operations, repair and maintenance, cable system repair and maintenance;

1. 3. ITS operations and maintenance,

1. 4. street lighting inventory and design analyses;

1. 5. maintenance of city-wide traffic count program; and

1. 6. intersection visibility safety programs.
