Section 03.01B.050 Arts, Culture, and Historic Preservation

 

Arts, Culture, and Historic Preservation is an administrative department within the Community and Economic Development Division. The Arts, Culture, and Historic Preservation Department fosters stewardship and investment in historic properties by providing incentives to redevelop, rehabilitate, and revitalize properties and buildings while preserving character, creating construction jobs, and increasing the tax base for the community. The department also promotes, develops, and executes programs to enhance public awareness of and interest in the arts and the preservation of the city of Spokane's cultural heritage.

  1. The Historic Preservation Officer, or their designee, serves as the administrative liaison to the Spokane City/County Historic Landmarks Commission.
  1. Arts, Culture, and Historic Preservation Department serves as the administrative liaison to the Spokane Arts Commission.
