Chapter 10.27A Cable Communications Code

Article I. General

Section 10.27A.020 Purpose

The purposes of this chapter are to provide:

  1. for the franchising and regulation of cable communications within the City of Spokane;
     
  2. for a cable system that will meet the current needs of the City and that can be modified to meet future needs;
     
  3. for the payment of fees and other valuable consideration to the City for the use of the public rights-of-way and for the privilege to construct and operate cable systems;
     
  4. consistent with applicable law, for the regulation by the City of certain rates to be charged to subscribers for certain cable services;
     
  5. for the establishment of construction, maintenance and operations standards to ensure the safety of the public;
     
  6. for the development of cable communications as a means to improve communication between and among the members of the public and public institutions of the City; and
     
  7. remedies and prescribe penalties for violation of this chapter and any franchise granted hereunder.
