Article II. Franchise Applications

Section 10.27A.245 Renewal

  1. A franchisee seeking renewal of a valid franchise issued by the city council shall not be subject to the application procedures required by SMC 10.27A.200 through SMC 10.27A.240.
     
  2. Franchise renewals shall be governed by and comply with the provisions of the Cable Act (47 U.S.C. section 546), as amended.
     
  3. To the extent permissible under applicable law and not inconsistent with the franchise in effect, the City reserves the right to impose a fee to fully recoup the costs associated with processing a franchisee’s request for franchise renewal, including staff time and expenses.
