Chapter 10.36 Gas Transmission and Distribution

Section 10.36.090 Breaking Pavement

Whenever installation of gas facilities requires excavation of existing pavement, the excavator must:

  1. score or otherwise cut asphalt pavement in a straight line and, using a concrete saw, cut a sufficient kerf to allow complete breakage of the pavement and base without ragged edges;
     
  2. make pavement cuts as vertical as possible;
     
  3. entirely remove the pavement to expose at least six-inch shoulders of undisturbed subgrade material, unless otherwise directed by the director of engineering services.
