Chapter 10.48 False Alarms

Section 10.48.290 Exceptions
  1. The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to temporary alarm systems used by the department or other public law enforcement agencies for investigative or protective purposes.
  1. Government Facilities.
    1. Government facilities as defined in SMC 10.48.020(R) are subject to the following special rules:
      1. Fee Structure:
        1. Government facilities are subject to annual registration rules (i.e., providing contact information for the alarm system), but are exempt from payment of the annual registration fees described in SMC 10.48.060.
        1. No cost recovery fees shall be charged for police response(s) to false alarms at government facilities.
      1. Government facilities are exempt from having police response suspended.
    1. To qualify for the special rules and exemptions under this section, an alarm site must meet the following criteria:
      1. The site is located within the municipal boundaries of the City of Spokane; and
      1. The site meets the criteria as defined in SMC 10.48.020(R).
    1. Upon the fourth response to a false alarm in any calendar year, a responsible party for the government alarm site shall meet with the alarm and administrator and present a false alarm abatement plan.
    1. The alarm administrator may make any other special rules and exceptions as are deemed necessary to assure that appropriate protection and accountability is maintained at government sites.
