Chapter 10.56 Reality-Based Police Shows

Section 10.56.005 Legislative Findings; Purpose and Intent
  1. The City of Spokane finds that reality-based police shows create a financial gain by using the images of private individuals for profit when those individuals are in extreme distress and may not be capable of providing their consent for the commercial exploitation of their actions, image, or likeness for the profit of the production and distribution entities.

  2. The City of Spokane intends to legislate to ensure that private for-profit entities operating within the city of Spokane may not profit from the inability of subjects of law enforcement involvement to consent to the use of their image.
