Section 16A.84.020 Pedestrian Safety Top Transportation Priority; Purpose and Intent
  1. The City of Spokane recognizes that pedestrian safety and service is the City’s highest transportation priority.
  1. The City of Spokane desires an active, connected, equitable, sustainable, and complete transportation network for all users, maximizing innovation, access, choice, and options for all users in all four seasons.
  1. The City of Spokane intends to enhance walking routes to schools, parks, retail locations, employment centers and desirable destinations for seniors.
  1. The City of Spokane intends to remove barriers restricting expansion, safety, and the use of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.
  1. The City of Spokane supports Washington State’s Target Zero goal of reducing all traffic fatalities and serious injuries to zero by the year 2030.
  1. The City of Spokane supports regional efforts to identify and coordinate on pedestrian safety projects.
