Chapter 17F.030 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

Section 17F.030.100 Repair Permit

No person may make any repair or alteration, except regular maintenance, to a boiler or pressure vessel without having a repair permit from the city boiler inspector. Fees for repair permits are in SMC 8.02.030.

  1. Any alteration must be made in accordance with the rules of the NBIC and be reviewed by the city boiler inspector before the alteration may be made. The work must be designed by a licensed professional engineer who has experience in the design of boilers and pressure vessels.
     
  2. Repairs must be made in accordance with the NBIC.
     
  3. Welded repairs and alterations to boilers and pressure vessels may be made by a National Board "R" stamp holder only.
