Chapter 13.02 Solid Waste

Article III. Collection

Section 13.02.0330 Bulky Loading Prohibited

1. Contents must be able to fall freely from the container when dumped or emptied. Container lids must be in a completely closed position and swing freely open when the container is dumped. Containers and carts must be packed to allow easy dumping of contents when inverted.

1. 1. Overfilled or overloaded containers will be assessed additional labor and equipment charges for additional effort to handle overloaded or overfilled containers.

1. 2. Alternatively, in the department’s discretion, collection will be declined for an overfilled container and a minimum service charge will be assessed.

2. Tree limbs and brush must be cut in three-foot lengths and tied in small bundles if they are to be removed by the regular collection crews.

1. 1. The solid waste management department may decline to collect cartons, crating or similar bulky materials on regular routes.

1. 2. “Bulky materials” are large items of solid waste, distinguished from the general, domestic, municipal waste stream collected in automated carts or containers.

1. 1. 1. Examples include but are not limited to appliances, furniture, trees, stumps and other oversized wastes.
