New Regional Alert & Notification System Now Online

Alert Spokane logo

Spokane County Emergency Management is transitioning to a new regional alert and notification system in early April, replacing the current CodeRED / Alert Spokane platform. This new system will provide improved capabilities to deliver timely, location-based emergency notifications to residents during incidents such as wildfires, severe weather, evacuations, and other urgent situations.

What you should do now:

  • Watch for updates through city newsletters and official communication channels
  • Plan to register as soon as the new system becomes available

Why this matters:
Emergency alerts are not one-size-fits-all. While Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) may be used for major, life-threatening incidents, they are not issued for every emergency and may not reach everyone in all situations. Opt-in alert systems allow local emergency officials to:

  • Send more detailed, localized information
  • Provide earlier warnings for developing incidents
  • Share updates specific to your neighborhood or address
