At 9:14 this morning, while responding to a fire alarm, Truck 13 was involved in an accident while descending a hill. As firefighters crested the hill at West Rowan Avenue and West Fleming Place, the truck lost traction and slid down the street into a home in the 3500 block of North Greenwood Blvd. One resident occupied the house then, but thankfully, no injuries occurred. Additionally, all firefighters on Truck 13 were unharmed.

A city engineer inspected the home and found no major structural issues, deeming it safe for continued occupancy. However, Truck 13 sustained extensive damage and will be out of service indefinitely until repairs can be completed.

Following the accident, firefighters requested Engine 16 to respond to the original alarm. While attempting to access the residence, Engine 16 lost control on the same hill, sliding into two unoccupied vehicles before stopping. Fortunately, no injuries resulted. The two vehicles sustained moderate damage, and Engine 16 is expected to return to service later this afternoon.

The Spokane Police Department responded to assist with the investigation. The Spokane Fire Department is grateful that no injuries occurred despite the incidents.
