Spokane Mayor David Condon issued the following statement about the Air Force announcement that Fairchild Air Force Base is among the final five candidates for the KC-46 tanker:

“Today is a great next step for Fairchild Air Force Base and Spokane. The City remains a strong advocate for Fairchild, its critical role in the defense of our nation and importance as a regional asset and economic driver. Fairchild is deeply embedded in the Spokane community as evidenced by its recent selection as the Abilene Trophy winner for community support. Fairchild’s model of cooperation between the active duty wing and the Air National Guard, combined with the community’s tremendous respect and support, makes it the perfect fit for the KC-46.”
