Avista Initiates South Hill Bluff Restoration Efforts
Erostion control, signage and further assessment began April 19
All parties have committed to restoring this conservation land and share in the community’s concern of this unfortunate circumstance. As a first step in this restoration effort, Avista, in consultation with the Department of Ecology and the City Parks Department, engaged a local firm to install immediate erosion control measures along the newly-constructed access road. Over the next several days, we will survey the road to help inform the restoration plan. Required forest and cultural assessments are being initiated as well, which will allow for further planning of the restoration efforts.
By Monday April 24, signs will be installed to provide information about the project and ask the land users to assist in the process by avoiding the area as a pathway; to use caution around downed and potentially destabilized trees; and to maintain the site by not moving or removing items.
Details for the first stakeholder meeting on the restoration plan are being finalized and will likely occur late next week. Interested parties can submit a request for stakeholder meeting notification or input on the restoration project to: BluffRestore@avistacorp.com
