February is African American History Month and events are scheduled throughout the month to honor and celebrate the African American community!

The heritage month celebration is part of the City's commitment to reach out and highlight Spokane's multicultural community. Fiesta Spokane and Native American Heritage Month celebrations are also part of this effort.

We are proud of our region's African American community! It was a fitting tribute to the community's strong presence in Spokane's history that the kick-off event Monday was held at Calvary Baptist Church – identified as the oldest African American church in the state of Washington.

There is plenty to take in and be a part of. Heritage month events include art exhibits, workshops, lectures, films, music, and more.
