This week, the City of Spokane and Spokane County announced a partnership to deliver a replacement computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and records management system (RMS) that will result in better service to citizens for less than half the anticipated cost. The 15-year agreement means the Spokane Police Department and the Spokane County Sheriff's Office will be able to replace aging dispatch and records management equipment and realign data integration with federal standards.
The new CAD and RMS systems can help local law enforcement agencies enhance citizen and officer safety capabilities, as well as help law enforcement communicate real-time incident information to the community. With the updated system, citizens can access data about incidents in progress. Additionally, the RMS system upgrade will allow officials to obtain more detailed crime data. The new systems will be installed over the next 18-24 months.
