We had a great turnout for the first ride of Commute of the Century 2015! Mayor Condon and Washington Secretary of Transportation Lynn Peterson strapped on their helmets and joined us for the ride through the Perry District.
We are bringing back Commute of the Century for the second year in a row. It's a series of self-guided rides with a survey component that asks for your input. The feedback we get is aimed at improving the way Spokane builds for bikes. The rides are designed to include everyone from the serious cyclist to the weekend family rider.
Last year, 160 people submitted surveys. We received dozens of surveys after today's ride alone, so we're excited as Commute of the Century rolls on!
There are lunch hour group rides during Bike to Work Week but you can also take Commute of the Century's five routes around Spokane on your own time (between May 1 and Aug 31). A Centurion Challenge is also available, which connects all five routes and explores much of Spokane's bicycle infrastructure in a 100-mile adventure!
