Hear the Beep Where You Sleep

Smoke alarms cut your chance of dying in a fire in half. So, during National Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4-10), the Spokane Fire Department is asking you to “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep.”

This year's prevention week theme (“Hear the Beep…”) is important because most deadly home fires occur between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Every bedroom should be protected by a working smoke alarm. In addition, at least one smoke alarm should be installed on each level of your home.

Remember, working smoke alarms save lives. Three out of every five fire fatalities this year will happen in a household that is not protected by a working smoke alarm.
