Mayor David Condon declared the city's long-term outlook “encouraging” during the annual statement of conditions and affairs to the community on Monday night.
Recent data reaffirmed that a disciplined approach of sustainable revenue projections, close management of expenses and pursuit of new investment in Spokane is driving positive results. Among them, median household income rose 11 percent in the city during 2014, which is double the growth rate experienced by the rest of Spokane County and new investment in Spokane over the past two-plus years has exceeded $1 billion.
The Mayor also talked about investments in public safety that returned at 12 percent reduction in crime last year and another 12 percent drop through three quarters this year.
