Avista Installing Smart Meters in the City

Avista Utilities, the local energy company serving the City of Spokane, is embarking on a major program to deploy new smart meters for all of its residential and commercial customers within the City. The installation program begins in early March 2019, ramping up to as many as 1,000 meters a day being installed.

Customers who will be impacted will receive multiple notifications from Avista. They are being notified 90 days in advance, again at 60 days in advance, with a third notification at 21 days in advance of installation.

Smart meters allow for secure, two-way communications between the meter and Avista. Customers will be able to better monitor and manage their energy usage, and Avista will be able to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of energy delivery for customers.

For more information or questions, please go to the Avista web site.
