For-hire drivers will soon have the option to renew or apply for their license online! A for-hire driver is any driver who is affiliated with a Transportation Network Company (TNC) or taxi company. Popular examples of TNCs include Uber and Lyft.
We are excited to provide a convenient and faster process for our customers. For-hire drivers will soon be able to apply or renew their license and pay the registration fee all online.
In the meantime, for-hire driver license applications are being accepted for new applicants via mail, email or the City Hall drop box.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic we are not accepting applications in person.
The City of Spokane is extending expiration dates for all active for-hire driver licenses. A temporary, for-driver license with a new expiration date of June 30, 2021 will be issued to all active for-hire drivers. Temporary taxi decals will be issued for vehicles registered with active taxi for-hire operators. If you have recently moved, please update your address ASAP. Call Taxes & Licenses at 509.625.6070 or email tax&licenses@spokanecity.org to receive your license extension and avoid any lapse with your service.
