The year has nearly slipped away, and we realize we haven't had the chance to celebrate our outstanding Employees of the Quarter! Mayor Lisa Brown recently held a meeting to recognize the winners from the first and second quarters.
The City’s Water Department and Utility Billing noticed that some remote meter readers were underreporting water usage, and they jumped into action. Within just a few months, the teams worked together to streamline and change out nearly 6,000 meter remotes. Utility Billing provided excellent communication for water customers and helped them understand the difference. The new meter reading system will give the community more information to help them with water conservation, detect possible water leaks in their water systems, and understand their overall water use.
Thank you, Water Department Teams: Clerks, Tapping Crew, IT, SS Meters & Repairs, NS Meters & Repairs, and Utility Billing Team.
The Office of Neighborhood Services employees are our co-Employees of the Quarter! We want to recognize the ONS Team for their work in celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Office of Neighborhood Services. This team organized an amazing Lilac City Live event featuring live interviews, music, and the debut of the Civic Guide zine. They worked incredibly hard for months to secure funding and collaborated across City departments and with the artist to create a powerful civic engagement tool. The team identified a gap in our community and addressed it in an innovative, creative, and engaging way. Despite staffing shortages, this small team managed to celebrate ONS’s 25th anniversary while also handling their daily work for the neighborhood councils.
Thank you, Pollyanne, Gabby, and Amber!
Darcie from the Accounting Department was also honored as a co-Employee of the Quarter! Darcie plays a vital behind-the-scenes role in making sure nearly 3,000 City employees receive accurate, timely pay every two weeks. It’s a responsibility with high stakes and little recognition, yet Darcie approaches her work with grace, accuracy, and a strong sense of purpose. She is also an outstanding trainer and mentor. With her extensive knowledge, she continually invests in the next generation of City of Spokane employees.
Thank you, Darcie!
Congratulations to the Employee of the Quarter winners! These employees exemplify our core values of trust, integrity, quality, teamwork, accountability, openness, innovation, diversity, and community.
