At approximately 3:04 pm on Wednesday, April 8, Spokane Fire Department crews were dispatched to a possible house fire in the 2800 block of West Broadway. The initial arriving company reported that the front of the structure was heavily involved in fire. The fire had already extended to the porch of the house next door. Crews quickly extinguished the exterior fire on both houses and made entry. A search of the house was completed with no occupants found. The fire on the inside of the home was extinguished with moderate damage to the first floor.
The 911 call for this fire came in eight minutes after a reported fire on East Ermina. 24 firefighters from the Spokane Fire Department and Spokane County Fire District 9 responded to this incident. Due to the efforts of those firefighters, the estimated dollar loss was held to $60,000.
There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Spokane Fire Department Special Investigations Unit.
